75 years supporting single parent families

Welcome to the 75th anniversary website for One Parent Families Scotland.

To coincide with our 75 years celebrations we are showcasing single parents from across Scotland in a photographic exhibition. We have collaborated with photographer Amara Eno to create a body of work called the The 25 Percent, which explores the lives of single parent families in Scotland. Amara storytelling approach focuses on portraiture, exploring relationships within communities.

The 25 Percent is a chronicle of the positive reflections, but also the hardships, that make up the single-parent household landscape in the UK.  Inspired by Amara’s own childhood, and the representation of single parents in the media, the project offers them an outlet to express themselves and creates imagery allowing children who grow up in these families to see themselves represented in a way that instils in them a sense of solidarity and worth.

We are the only national organisation whose overall aim and purpose is to improve the lives of single parents and their families, enabling them to benefit from life’s opportunities, and fulfil their potential.
